Kolej Sepuluh, UPM, 16 February 2025 – Kolej Sepuluh, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) received a courtesy and academic visit from Shinshu University (Matsumoto), Japan. The program was organized at the request of Shinshu University and aimed to strengthen academic and cultural ties between the two institutions. Additionally, it provided a valuable international learning experience for the students.
The visit lasted for 3 days and involved the participation of 10 students and 2 staff members from Kolej Sepuluh, UPM, along with 7 students and 1 staff member from Shinshu University. Throughout the program, various activities were held to foster strong interaction between participants. The main activities included academic sharing sessions, campus tours, and cultural programs that introduced the unique aspects of Malaysia and Japan.
One of the highlights was the academic presentation session by students from both universities on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants also had the opportunity to learn about UPM's education and research system through visits to several key facilities, including Farm Fresh, which showcases the local dairy industry. Additionally, a cooking activity was held at the Scientific Room, Kolej Sepuluh UPM, where participants prepared traditional dishes such as nasi lemak, kuih buah melaka, teh tarik, and Japanese curry, enriching their understanding of both cultures.
The program received positive feedback from participants and is expected to serve as a continuous platform for strengthening academic and cultural ties between Malaysia and Japan in the future. The success of the program also opens up opportunities for more collaborations between UPM and Shinshu University in various fields.
