K10 BENGKEL SENI KHAT 2.0: SENI DALAM TINTA EMPOWERS THE APPRECIATION OF CALLIGRAPHY AS A CULTURAL HERITAGE

SERDANG, 11th January 2026 – The Sekretariat Kerohanian dan Perpaduan (SKP) of Majlis Perwakilan Kolej Sepuluh for the 2025/2026 session successfully organised K10 Bengkel Seni Khat 2.0: Seni dalam Tinta at Al-Biruni Smart Space, Masjid Universiti Putra Malaysia. The programme was held in collaboration with Pihak Pengurusan Kolej Sepuluh, Kesatuan Mahasiswa (KM), Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pelajar (BHEP), Pusat Pengurusan Zakat, Wakaf dan Infak (WAZAN), and Pusat Islam Universiti, Universiti Putra Malaysia.

The workshop was attended by 21 participants, comprising 16 Universiti Putra Malaysia students and 5 external participants. The program aimed to provide exposure to the beauty of Islamic calligraphy while strengthening participants' understanding of the aesthetic values, discipline, and patience required in producing calligraphy artwork.

The main workshop sessions, which covered the fundamentals of Khat Riq‘ah and Khat Diwani, were delivered by YBrs. Prof. Madya Dr. Abd Rauf Hassan, Head of the Department at the Fakulti Bahasa Moden dan Komunikasi. Participants were not only introduced to the fundamental principles of calligraphy but were also guided through practical sessions to produce their own calligraphy pieces while applying the correct writing techniques.

Through this workshop, participants gained a deeper appreciation of the importance of patience, precision, and discipline in producing high-quality calligraphy. The program successfully achieved its intended objectives and is hoped to continue in the future as an initiative to uphold the value of art and culture within the community and the university.
