ROBOTICS WORKSHOP ON THE ROAD SPARKS YOUTH INTEREST IN STEM AND INNOVATION

Serdang, 10 January 2026 – The Secretariat of Digitalization and Corporate Communication (DigiComm), Kolej Sepuluh, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with the Robotics Club UPM, Faculty of Engineering UPM, conducted the Robotics Workshop On the Road Program at Bilik Ilmiah, Kolej Sepuluh, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This program is one of the components under the annual Kolej Sepuluh program, K10 UPSKILLS! 5.0: SHARPEN SKILLS, UNLOCK OPPORTUNITIES.

The workshop was aimed at school students to increase interest in the field of computing and robotics. A total of 23 participants were introduced to the basics of robot building using the LEGO Education SPIKE set. The program was guided by eight (8) facilitators throughout its implementation.

Participants learned the Tug of War and Follow the Line modules practically, thereby enhancing their understanding of basic programming and robot control. The programme also provided early exposure to STEM fields and nurtured interest in robotics towards producing a highly skilled generation by 2030.

Overall, the program achieved its set objectives and is hoped to be continued in the future as a high-impact initiative in strengthening character development, technical skills, and academic excellence in line with the aspirations of Universiti Putra Malaysia.
