7 Tips to Stay Healthy Throughout Ramadan

Fasting is one of the ways to detoxify or remove toxic substances from the body naturally. This process will be easier by following some Ramadan healthy tips as a whole. Surely you want to stay active and fit throughout the month of Ramadan, right?

Here are 7 simple ways you can do throughout the month of Ramadan to keep your body healthy while fasting:

Don't leave sahur
The easiest way to stay healthy while fasting is to never skip suhoor. Just like breakfast, sahur is the most important part to increase energy intake for the day until it's time to break the fast.

You can eat foods such as brown rice, wheat, and oats that provide a longer period of satiety. Consuming foods that contain high fiber such as dates, seeds, potatoes, vegetables and almost all fruits especially apricots, plums, papayas and bananas are good as your suhoor menu.

In addition, protein can be obtained from eggs, cheese, yogurt or low-fat meat that helps to increase your energy throughout the day.

Meet the water needs during the month of Ramadan
Most of our body is made up of water, and we need the same amount of water as we lose when we fast. Drink at least 8 to 12 glasses a day, depending on your weight. You can meet the water requirement when breaking the fast until sahur to help the body stay hydrated.

In addition, it is better that you avoid consuming caffeine while fasting. This is because caffeine is a diuretic that makes us urinate more often, so the water in the body is quickly lost.

Eat normally to stay healthy
During Ramadan, the most awaited time is breaking the fast. But unfortunately many people are lazy when enjoying iftar meals.

You can eat gradually. During breaking the fast, eat light food such as fruit salad, fruit juice, dates, or water. A few hours later, eat a heavier meal.

Avoid oily food
The fried menu for breaking fast is very tempting. However, it is good for you to avoid all forms of food fried with oil in large quantities throughout the month of Ramadhan.

This is because these foods will increase the risk of cholesterol in your body.

Reduce sugary foods and drinks
The next fasting tips are related to your iftar meal! You are also required to reduce sugary drinks and foods as well as processed products.

Many are confused in interpreting the meaning of 'breaking the sweet'. Sweet food or drinks are important during breaking the fast to normalize blood sugar.

This is because without realizing it, the drinks and sweet foods that we use routinely during the month of Ramadan will cause weight gain. You must remember, to ensure that the body remains healthy throughout Ramadan, the calories taken out must be more than the calories that come in.

Exercise, Ramadhan healthy tips that are often forgotten!

The month of Ramadan is not an obstacle to stay healthy by doing physical activity. You can do light to moderate intensity exercise after breaking the fast, when the body is full of energy.

Do exercise for 30 minutes by walking, cycling, jogging or other exercise that suits your body condition.

Enough sleep, important fasting tips!
In addition to observing food intake, important Ramadhan healthy tips also include determining the time and amount of sleep that is sufficient. Sleepiness during fasting is not due to not eating and drinking all day, but because you get enough sleep.

If you have to get up in the morning to prepare sahur, then try to prepare it at night.

You should not stay awake for unimportant needs. Try to go to bed earlier than usual like after tarawih prayer.

This is because the lack of sleep time will affect the performance of the brain thus hindering your other activities.

Conclusion
You don't need to be lethargic during fasting if you follow the Ramadan healthy tips listed above. If these fasting tips work for you, don't forget to share!
