Dengue fever is a viral infection that spreads through the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito. There are four types of viruses that cause dengue fever, namely DEN 1, DEN 2, DEN 3, and DEN 4. Infection from one of these types of viruses will give immunity to the virus of that type only, if individuals live in the area of ​​dengue infection, they can be infected more from once in a lifetime.

Symptoms of Dengue Fever 

Signs and symptoms after 5-6 days of mosquito bites:         

• Fever
• Headache
• Back pain
• Joint pain
• Nausea and vomiting
• Eye pain
• Rash  

Dengue Fever Prevention Measures 

Dengue fever should be prevented because there is still no special treatment and it is very dangerous if this common dengue fever disease persists until dengue hemorrhagic fever. Dengue hemorrhagic fever can be fatal and among the symptoms are bruising, bleeding under the skin, on the nose and gums as well as bleeding all over the body. There are various ways to prevent dengue fever. Among them: 

1. Ensure there is no mosquito breeding ground
   • Dispose of containers that can hold water.
   • Make sure the water tank, the rain catchment container should be closed.
   • Make sure the flower pots and catchment containers are drained at least once a week.
   • Make sure the roof drain is always flowing.
   • Defend the fish in the fish pond to reduce larvae.
2. Use insect spray to kill mosquitoes.
3. Take precautionary measures to prevent mosquito bites such as:
   • Make sure windows and doors are always closed.
   • Apply mosquito repellent on exposed limbs to mosquito bites.
   • Wear brightly colored shirts and long sleeves and long pants when leaving the house.
   • Install mosquito repellent and electric mosquito repellent in enclosed areas.
