SERDANG - TENTH COLLEGE, 27 DECEMBER 2021 - The Volunteer Secretariat of Tenth College has organized a Flood Relief Mission which took place on 27 December 2021 around the Bukit Changgang area. The mission was joined by members of a volunteer club known as the K10 ResQ Team. The main purpose of this program is to alleviate the burden of residents in Taman Seri Changgang 2 who were hit by floods and give new experiences to students of Universiti Putra Malaysia to participate in welfare programs like this. The program was conducted starting from 7.00 am until 3.00 pm attracting the participation of 180 students but due to some constraints, only 38 students and 3 staff of Universiti Putra Malaysia were mobilized to help the flood relief mission on the day of the incident. Once there, the students were divided into 6 groups to begin a relief mission where they went to each house to ask what help was needed. Basically, every house needs help to do the cleaning work. Volunteers help clean household items such as dishes, bowls, carpets, sofas, and even refrigerators. Items such as sofas and carpets were washed using a water jet that was borrowed from Puan Raihan, a fellow of Tenth College. Once cleaned, resident’s items that can no longer be used are placed in front of the flood victim’s houses to facilitate disposal work. The K10 ResQ Team ended the relief mission at Taman Seri Changgang 2 at 3.00 pm and left for Tenth College, Universiti Putra Malaysia. The program has run very smoothly and received positive feedback from various parties.
