Malaysian Students Empowered Through K10 SKYE Program in Thailand: A Cultural and Educational Journey

On February 29 until March 13, 2024, 14 students from Kolej Sepuluh participated in the transformative K10 Skills and Knowledge Youth Empowerment (K10 SKYE) program in Thailand. This two-week venture aimed at fostering cross-cultural understanding, volunteerism, and educational collaboration, took the students on a memorable journey through Hatyai and Bangkok, offering them unparalleled experiences.

In Hatyai, the group's engagement with Prince of Songkla University (PSU) provided valuable insights into engineering and innovation. The journey then continued to Bangkok, where a visit to the Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM) exposed them to cutting-edge technology and AI, enhancing their understanding of global educational and industrial standards.

Volunteer activities like the beach clean-up at Sarmila Beach and learning about sustainable practices at Rai Sukphoang Farm enriched the students' understanding of environmental stewardship. An industrial visit to CP Meiji offered a glimpse into modern food processing techniques, broadening their knowledge in the sector.

The experience of observing Ramadan in Thailand, including volunteer work and iftar preparations with the local Muslim community, added a rich cultural layer to their trip, promoting spiritual and cultural connections.

Supported by sponsors such as Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia, leja Food, Kopetro Food, Medin Perfume, MyfundAction, MediaFeagnance, Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara(JKKN) and Suria Catering, this journey underscored the significance of empowering youth through diverse learning experiences. The students returned with not just memories but a broadened perspective on global cultures and the importance of cross-cultural exchanges. The K10 SKYE Thailand Journey stands as a testament to the positive impact of youth empowerment initiatives.
