GREEN THE COLLEGE 2018/2019

On the 23rd of September 2018, Secretariat of Environment of Tenth College had organized a program called as Green The College. The program aims to increase the college’s environmental cleanliness as well as improve the surrounding landscape of the college. During the program, students were brought together to help by clearing out the dried leaves in front of the college, cleaning the drain and ultimately also adding greenery to the whole scenery of Tenth College.

The event started at 7.00 am with students’ registration. Food is served to the students at 7.30 am to ensure that the students are energized and fully fueled before starting the program. At 8.00 am, students from Tenth and Eleventh College assemble in Dewan Seri Budiman, Eleventh College for a simple opening ceremony. The ceremony is started by a speech from En Fitri Bin Abdul Muntalib and a demonstration from him on how to prepare seeds for planting. Shortly after, the students of Eleventh College are separated into three major groups and brought to the different places around the college to start with their noble mission to ‘green’ the college.

Students were provided with tools and equipment such as rake, scooper and  garbage bag to clear the leaves around the college. This significantly improved the image of the college as it looks more maintained and cleaner. For the group in charge of planting the seeds, gardening tools are provided as well as the seeds. Several different types of seeds that are provided includes Chinese Mustard Greens seeds, Aubergine seeds, Chilli seeds and Watermelon seeds. The students first cleared up the area and raised some patches before putting in the seeds. These patches will be maintained biweekly by the members of Eleventh College recreation club, The Reventh Club.

This event was organized in hope that students appreciates the nature and takes a bit of their time off of their hectic schedule to spend doing recreational and gardening activities. This will instantly improve their mood and mental health, as well as increasing the image of Tenth and Eleventh College.
