K10 SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE YOUTH EMPOWERMENT (K10 SKYE) - THAILAND

 

HATYAI, THAILAND, OCTOBER 1, 2022 - College Representative Council (MPK), Tenth College (K10) in collaboration with the Management Division of Tenth College and Student Affairs Division (BHEP), Universiti Putra Malaysia has organised a student mobility programme to Thailand, namely K10 Skills and Knowledge Youth Empowerment (K10 SKYE). This programme was held physically for two weeks, starting from 1 October 2022 (Saturday) until 14 October 2022 (Friday) and was hosted by Prince Songkhla University (PSU), Hatyai Campus, Thailand. A total of 19 students from Tenth College was involved together with a monitoring officer, namely as Mr. Muhammad Fitri. All participants were students from the Faculty of Engineering (FK) and the Faculty of Design and Architecture (FRSB). 

 

The main purpose of this programme is to improve the ability to lead projects and supervise the team members. Besides, it is to enhance the capability to negotiate and reach consensus as well as the use of non-verbal skills. In addition, the programme is able to enhance the capacity to understand and to take on alternate roles between group leaders and group members as well as the skill to find and manage relevant information from various sources. Without exception, this programme’s objective is to train students to prepare solid evidence-based decisions and develop as well as improve thinking skills such as analysing, evaluation and through discussion.

 

There are a variety of dense, beneficial and interesting activities filled up within these two weeks at Hatyai. Among the activities that have been carried out with PSU, for instance, Teaching and Learning at the PSU Engineering Faculty, campus tour, exchange food recipes of Malaysia-Thailand, friendly futsal match of PSU-UPM, and students’ performance of PSU-UPM at the closing ceremony. PSU also conducts a series of tours to several attractive places around Songkhla and Hatyai on weekends such as Kong Hills, Songkhla Oldtown Songkhla State Mosque, Samila Beach, Chang Puak Camp, and Koyo Island.

 

All participants showed positive response and actively involved themselves throughout the program. The attention and cooperation given by each participant were positive too in this program. At the end of the activity, every participant did not miss the chance to share sweet memories and feedback as well as improvements for future events.

 

The College Representative Council (MPK) of Tenth College would like to thank the participants who made the program a success for those 2 weeks. In addition, a wreath of appreciation to the Management of Tenth College for the contribution given for the goals of this program. In a hopeful manner, programs similar to K10 SKYE can be implemented again with a better way in the future.
